The Big Three – Save, Spend and Share

Sharing is something you may already do with a brother or sister – toys, books or even your mom’s time! But, did you know you can also share your money and help out others who don’t have as much?

What’s interesting to you?

Now that you are bigger, you probably have things that you really like or think are fun. Wouldn’t it be great to help out others who like the same thing.  For example, if you love dogs, you could share your money with a local animal shelter. You might love to read. You could give money to a group that helps kids and adults learn to read. Maybe your church has a special fund to help people in other countries. It’s your money – you can choose what group to share it with.

Split it up!

Once you have an idea of who you can share with, think about how you want to do it. One idea is to have three bowls or piggy banks in your room labeled “Spend” “Save” and “Share”. Whenever you get allowance, split the amount into the three containers.

Give it up!

Set a schedule of when you want to donate and maybe how much you would like to give. Then work towards that goal. Your parents will be so proud of you!
